Dusty Rose Bridal Crown
There are few things in this life that stand out as a first. A unique experience that resides in your memory forever.
Two summers, ago I was lucky enough to witness two of my nearest and dearest couples on their heart-achingly romantic marriage proposal... A group of us were spending the weekend in Watersend House a friend's beautiful home available to rent with Rockpool Holidays. As we walked along Watergate Bay, celebrating the unassuming fiance to be's 30th birthday weekend, we paused for an obligatory group selfie and as we all dispersed Nick took Filly's hands in his and went down onto one knee asking if she would be his wife... some serious brownie points go to the groom for his sheer bravery in such a public proposal! While we clapped and shed a few tears she, of course, said Yes, and we reveled in the double celebrations long into the night.
Just last month it was their big day, they chose a setting so magical that I can’t even begin to explain it well enough. Barons Hill Farm is an ancient 60 acre pasture, quietly situated in the heart of the beautiful South Devon countryside. Alive with various wildlife including two endearing alpacas that sit knowingly in the tallest field overlooking the meandering stream below.
I always love a barn wedding because even on grey days the backdrops are really striking, their rustic barn venue was decorated in dusty pink florals and ivy chandeliers. It was the perfect setting for the day Filly and Nick said I do and I felt honoured to share this day with them.
When I'm going about my creative endeavours there is an extra sense of magic when making a wedding crown, I think its knowing how much anticipation that one day holds, pre-planning and expectation wrapped in romance. The beautiful bride to be sent me her top Pinterest inspiration and I was entrusted with designing the rest. The style for Filly was a half crown, that sits centrally at the back of the head to allow the veil to hang below.
Vince of Yeti Photography captured the day perfectly and kindly let me use these stunning photos to share with you just how beautiful Filly looked on her big day.
